The Computer Junk Era
We are unfortunate enough to be living in the COMPUTER JUNK ERA. Major junk and more junk issues daily from software companies, computer manufacturers, internet service providers and anyone who has anything to download on your computer. These things then require fixes; they offer interfaces that only work some of the time; they provide software downloads that are supposed to fix or enhance but just interfere with already established software.
You don't agree? OK. You're Albert Einstein of the computer world. But you have your head in the sand for the rest of us. Look at the search engine forums, the computer manufacturer forums, the printer manufacturer forums, the blog forums, browser software software forums, all kinds of forums. You have chaos.
The chaos is clear as you read the questions. The frustration is clear. The replies fall into various catef gories, Sometimes they echo the question. sometimes they offer solutions. follow the thread and the slution most of the time doesn't solve the problem and then you need a solution to solve the ineffective solution. Pages and pages and pages. of the same thing. Thousands of unanswered questions. Yes. it is chaos.
And the self nominated gurus and techies offering up fixes and widgets and plug=ins are having their day in the sun but bringing nothing but darkness to the world of computers. Actually if you look hard enough you can see an occasional one that realizes what's happening and tries to clarify and weed. But it's beyond fixing.
It wasn't always this way. It used to be that you could rely, not 100%, but usually, on something you downloaded. It would work as advertised. And if it didn't you could look up help and very often fix it. Or you get support from an online chat function. Eventually, it would be up and running. But no more. If you don't believe me, take a look as I said earlier at the forums.
The plethora of ineffective junk spewing out from companies and self nominated gurus that work only a small percentage of the time is covering the innocent public in mountains of computer junk trash, well meaning but nonetheless trash.
We're waiting for a hero on a shining white horse to figure out how to save the situation. Until then, it can only get worse.
